Our Accessibility Commitment

The Office is committed to a website that is perceivable, operable and understandable for all visitors, including people using assistive technologies. Accessibility is treated as an ongoing responsibility rather than a one-time exercise.

Keyboard Navigation

The website is designed to be operable with a keyboard alone. A "skip to main content" link is provided on every page, interactive elements follow a logical tab order, and keyboard focus is shown with a visible gold outline.

The mobile menu can be opened and closed from the keyboard, and focus is kept within the menu while it is open.

Screen Reader Support

Pages are built with semantic landmarks and a consistent heading structure, form controls are paired with labels, and images that carry meaning include alternative text. Decorative elements are hidden from assistive technology.

Colour Contrast

The website uses a restrained palette of deep navy, warm ivory and muted gold, with text and background combinations selected to remain legible. A formal contrast audit will be completed as part of accessibility testing, and any shortcomings found will be corrected.

Text Resizing

Text sizes are defined with relative units, and the layout is designed to remain usable when browser text size or zoom is increased. Content reflows on smaller screens without the need for horizontal scrolling in normal use.

Reduced Motion

The website honours the "prefers-reduced-motion" setting of the visitor's device. When reduced motion is requested, decorative animations and transitions are suppressed so that content appears without movement.

Forms and Labels

Every form field is paired with a visible label, required fields are identified, and validation messages are presented in text so they can be perceived without relying on colour alone. Form layouts keep one column on smaller screens for clarity.

Known Limitations

• Formal accessibility testing with assistive technologies has not yet been completed; findings will be published here once available.
• Media coverage presented in the news section is produced by third-party organisations, and the accessibility of their material is outside the Office's control.

Reporting an Accessibility Problem

Visitors who encounter an accessibility barrier are invited to report it through the Contact page. Please describe the page, the part of the page affected and the technology being used, so the matter can be investigated properly.

Ongoing Improvements

Accessibility is reviewed as the website evolves. Issues identified through testing or visitor reports are recorded, prioritised and addressed in future updates, and this statement will be updated to reflect that progress.
